I married my dad....

It's true that every little girl at some point in their life has asked their dad to "marry them." Most girls want to find and settle down with someone similiar to their dads (that is if you have a good dad). Well, Bill and my Dad have similiar traits...they both enjoy golf, football, their families, and they are both kind, level headed men with lots to offer.

However, on Saturday I learned of another trait they have in common...they are BOTH BABIES when it comes to giving blood. Bill had to have some blood drawn for his upcoming physical and I offered to draw his blood for him. I told him to meet me in the ER and I will draw the blood, it won't take very long and he can go run his errands. Let me just tell you...that was a BAD DECISION on my part. Bill did infact meet me and I had him sign all the paperwork that they wanted (insurance, guarantor information, emergency contact info etc.) In the mean time, I gathered my supplies and went to escort Bill to an empty room for the blood draw. He informed me that he "should lay down for this." As I turn around, I see that Bill is sheet white, hyperventilating and he is sweating profusely. Although inappropriate, I start hysterically laughing at him and I said "Oh just lay down, you will be okay and we will be finished in no time." I help him onto the bed only to notice that he has soaked through his shirt and he's now pouring the sweat and getting more and more white. The whole blood draw took all of 2 minutes at most and the recovery much longer. After the blood draw Bill took small sips of orange juice and the color slowly started to reappear. He felt much better after the OJ got into his system and realized that the worst was over.

All I could think about throughout this whole ordeal was how my Dad does the exact same thing. It's something about needles, blood, and the combination of the two. Funny how two grown men can drop at the sight of their own blood coming out of their own bodies!!!

Guess I won't suggest that they participate in the next blood drive!
